There are also toys that endanger the health of our children ...

Have you ever thought that a cute toy you buy for your baby can endanger his health?

For each parent, priority should be given to the child as a whole with regard to his or her health, even when considering buying a toy.

When buying toys, I distinguish two levels of quality. Educational, thanks to which the child can also learn by playing and also the quality of execution. Turn a piece into tiny I just want the other one.

Parents want to constantly give their children a gift of joy and, at best, an environment for developing their potential. Many of them look at the price rather than the quality of the design when choosing toys. When deciding to buy a toy, the first question asked is: "And the price?" The reason may be anything, it is individual. We are people with different life situations and stories. I understand that there may be a difficult financial situation in a family, but I also see room for buying a quality product.

How? I hear many times from parents' mouth that after a few days his child is no longer entertained and is considering buying a new one. It is said, "There is less ever more!" It is not in vain that all the sayings and proverbs stretch from generation to generation. These are proven principles that work and have been with us for several generations. You don't have to think up much, just follow them.

And why should the design of toys be so important to our little ones?

The vast majority of cheap toys are made of plastic today and plastics are what puts our children's health at risk. Several plastic toys have been designed for children as young as 3 months, and it is at this age that they have the closest contact with them. They catch them in their hands, then put them in the mouth, lick the toys themselves, bite ... Dangerous substances that can be contained in plastic toys are phthalates. However, the manufacturer is not obliged to notify the consumer on the packaging of the presence of harmful phthalates.

Plastic toys are widespread and cannot be avoided and I do not want to say that they are all bad and harmful. Statistics, however, are accurate science and the figures do not mislead. Judging whether there are many or not so bad, I leave to you ...

My findings on how it is with harmful toys in our market and in the European Union are as follows:

In the first two weeks of June, the Slovak Trade Inspection Authority (SOI) in the Slovak Republic detected 34 pieces of dangerous products. And these are just the ones the SOI has found. It's definitely only a fraction. Of these, 26 were originally from China and another 6 from other Asian countries such as India, Taiwan, etc. Why am I writing about it? Because of all the sectors where controls are in progress - out of 34 cases in 2 weeks, up to 15 are related to children's needs or toys.

And what happened during the months of April - May this year in the European Union as such? So there were 221 problematic products. Of these, 68 were toys and 63 were made in China. Out of this number, “other” baby items such as clothes, strollers, cots were 41 pieces, of which 25 were made again in China.

It is true that China is 1.3 billion. the market. We must, therefore, expect that there will be the most problematic products. Are we, however, willing to accept, tolerate and take such a huge risk as our children's health?

The figures I have found have led me to form a personal opinion that (not only) Chinese plastic toy producers are focusing on mass production and not completely understanding the concept of business ethics - they lack the concept of responsibility towards consumers and therefore children.

With this article, I would like to encourage you, the general public, including people with whom I have no opportunity to discuss this issue personally, to encourage self-reflection and a brief reflection on whether your "attitude" to buying toys is "right" ...
