Tips like use our FLOWER
Before a child starts assigning names to colors, the child learns to distinguish colors with the eye. This is practiced by color matching. If a child gains enough experience in distinguishing colors with the eye, they can begin to differentiate color intensities.
The child learns to sort colors from the darkest to the lightest shade.
To get to know the colors you can use beautiful so-called. THREE-STEP METHOD.
The use of this method is amazing in that it can be a beautiful way of knowing if a child knows something and really understands what they are learning or not.
Until we met this method of Mary Montessori, we were motivating our children to learn colors by saying, "This is red, that is yellow, that is green ..." and that was followed by the question: "What is the color?" … In the hope that we will hear the right answer, but it was not coming.
Let me think that the theme of colors will close at home many times, probably that our child is not interested in it yet, that only I thought that the child showed interest in learning colors, or that the child is still small to learn colors, or even that there's too much for him. In doing so, we did not just involve the second stage of the method in color learning.
1.step: “This is green” - we point to green
2.step: “Show me green” - the child points to the color
3.step: “What color is it?” - the child names the color
It is important to observe the principle that if the child in the second stage does not show the color correctly, we will not evaluate it and say the sentences “No”, “It is not correct”… we will only return to the first stage: “Here is green”.
If the child is no longer mistaken, we can ask him questions such as “What is the color?” To see if he can properly name the color.
Learning is much easier if we link it to a game and a specific aid that the child knows intimately. It can be, for example, our FLOWER getting to know the colors (https://www.montoy.eu/flower-getting-to-know-the-colors). It is a complex tool that contains all colors and their dark and pale shade. By using the Flower, the child prioritizes color classification. Its task is to assign the correct color ball to the correct color hole.
FLOWWORK PROCEDURE:
1. STEP:
At the beginning, if the kids still can't work with the tongs and the spoon, they can assign the balls to the color holes and, on the contrary, pick them back by hand. In addition to visual color perception, they can also train a three-finger grip.
2.STEP:
The child should use the pliers to insert the balls from the central bowl of the Flower into the colored holes and then remove the balls and transfer them back with the pliers.
3.STEP:
The child puts the balls into the colored holes with a spoon and uses the pliers to remove them back into the central bowl of the Flower.
4.STEP:
When a child has mastered color matching visually, not yet verbally, we mix the Balls Wrong and the baby's job is to store them correctly.
And this is how colors are sometimes recognized at home :) :) :)
I wish you a lot of positive energy and let it multiply the positive tuning of your kids into color recognition! :)
